Our Boy is growing before our eyes. I can say with confidence that kindergarten has changed him. He has opened up so much. The first couple of weeks of kindergarten he had a really hard time. He didn't know how to be social with other kids and when he got home from school would tell me he cried and didn't play with anyone. As a parent, that broke my heart to hear. Boston from day one was always our little people watcher and was always on the shy side. I wasn't too surprised to hear all this when he told me about kindergarten but I also knew he had to improve somehow. Then week 3 his teacher had a meet and greet. She told us that he was awesome so smart and always doing what he should be doing. a week before the meet and greet Boston would come home telling me about how other kids got this "purple star" and he hadn't gotten it yet. I would ask him how he could get this purple star. He said "You have to be doing really good, doing what your supposed to and also being a helper to other students." So when I went to the meet and greet I asked his teacher about it and what it was. I guess his teacher thought he already had a turn and earlier that day in class he asked her when it was his turn... she felt horrible. The next day he got the Purple Star and came home and couldn't stop talking about how cool it was. His confidence had escalated! It is funny what that purple star has done to my son. He has gotten out of his shell, talks to other kids, his personality has grown. I'm so relieved and ever since that day he has been excited to see and make more friends. It is still so crazy to me that he is at that age already...it's almost scary how fast he's growing up. Gees I hope time slows down.
Lila is loving Mia and her famous words are "she is so CUTE!" Unfortunately we have ALL been battling through really bad colds so she has to stay away from Mia more and it makes her sad. She is loving preschool and learning A LOT! that girl knows all her colors, can count to 20 and knows her ABC's so well. I think she knows a lot because of Boston and she wants to do what he does all the time. She was just star student on Friday and her teacher recorded some things she said, It was Hilarious! Her teacher asked what I like to cook and she said chicken and dad likes to cook beans. HA! Sometimes I have to sit back and really remember she is only 3 and to enjoy her as much as possible. She is our peacemaker in the family. She is also really sensitive and gets her feelings hurt easily. Her and Boston have started this new thing called "fighting" all the time..... something like this; Lila: "I love my baby" (talking to my pretty red high heel shoe) Boston: that's not a baby that's moms shoe!!!" Lila: "NO!!!" Boston: "Yes" back and forth for 4 or five times. then Lila proceeds to cry and comes to me saying "Bubby said this is not my baby!" I look at him and he has a huge smile. UGh!
She loves princesses of every kind and wants to wear a skirt every day to watch it twirl. She is all girl and I love watching her dress up in her princess dress up clothes. Just today she put on my high heels and nate's tie (classic eh!) and she was only in her undies. It was adorable to see all those rolls. We love our Lila Bean!!!!
Miss Mia has a few nicknames... some of them are Mimi and Mee. She is such a happy baby and is smiling none stop. Her neck is so strong and and belly time is more fun everyday. Her doctor appt was last week. She is 75% for her weight. She loves her car seat and instantly falls asleep when put in it. She stills eats every three hours and is still doing awesome at night. She is seriously growing like a weed! I love taking care of her and am learning so much about being a mom again to a newborn, it's crazy how you can still learn new things with every child.
When she was 8 weeks old I made the hard decision to stop breastfeeding her. I got mastitis twice and it was no fun. I had never had that with the other kids. It starts with a fever, chills, flu like symptoms, then a plugged duct (pain like a really bad bruise). I had to be on antibiotics twice for a week and it sucked. After I was done with the second time with antibiotics I got another plugged duct but no mastitis. It started to hurt to breastfeed like little tiny rocks and I wanted to cry every time I had to feed her. I thought I had thrush but it was just plugged up ducts causing so much pain. It's crazy how every kid has been different with breastfeeding but her the worst. I told myself if I stopped breastfeeding I would not let myself feel guilty. Turns out I know myself too well. I felt crazy guilt and almost started up again while I was going through that crappy week of losing my milk (I hate that process). Once I started her on formula I felt so much relief but wished it could have been from me. The best thing I did was call my mom and tell her all about it. She eased my mind and told me that if it was causing so much pain and stress the best thing Mia needed is a happy mom. (Thanks mom!!!)
So once again (even the third time around) I am learning new things about being a mom.
Me and Mia on her blessing day. ..... more about that beautiful day to come.
